1-3.12.2014 [Software Defined Networking] Lab members participated in the IEEE Computer-Aided Modeling Analysis and Design of Communication Links and Networks (CAMAD) 2014. 28.11.2014 [Educational promotion activities] In a special event, that took place on Friday November 28th, Huawei introduced the university students that will travel to China from 29/11 to 14/12 in order to come in touch with Chinese culture and Huawei's innovation, as well. Prof. Panagiotis Demestichas also participated in this special event.

28-29.10.2014 [Cloud-IoT-Wearables-Nanonets] UPRC/TNS lab demonstrated the FP7/iCore project proof-of-concept in the IoT360 event and the project won the best exhibit award at IoT360. The event took place in Rome, Italy.

16.10.2014 [Big Data - Analytics] The development of e-services of cooperative research and processing of scientific big data, is the topic of a contract which was signed recently between GRNET and the consortium "COSMOS Business Systems - ALLWEB Solutions", in collaboration with the Laboratory of Telecommunication Networks and integrated Services of the Department of Digital Systems of the University of Piraeus. The contract was signed in the framework of e-Science project which aims at creating an integrated computing environment for enabling scientific and research activities in order to exploit new technologies for data-intensive research, information sharing and research collaboration. The event took place in Bologna, Italy and a demonstration of the GN3plus/Autoflow and iCore projects was presented during the event. The event took place in Bonn, Germany and issues on 'Intelligence in 5G' and 'Big Data challenges' due to the fact that many users and devices are present (in the context of the Internet of Things).

02.1.2014 [Cloud-IoT-Wearables-Nanonets] UPRC (laboratory of Telecommunication Networks and integrated Services of the Department of Digital Systems) starts work related to the trials, in the context of the iCore project, involving Internet of Things, Clouds, and Big Data platforms, on the SmartSantander infrastructure. The data provided by this infrastructure will be exploited by the TNS cognitive mechanisms in order to generate knowledge for realizing the smart city vision. In the context of these trials, self-management/awareness and knowledge functionality will be used and validated. Implementations will be based on the Apache Hadoop and cloud platforms, used so as to manage the huge amount of the data, optimize the computational performance, and achieve fast and reliable convergences.
